House S is one of the most complex projects I’ve had the opportunity to work on. The old structure of the house posed functional problems and did not meet the owner’s needs anymore. A house developed in the early 2000s, with the technology available at the time, and with budget limitations, the client decided to improve energy consumption and with it the entire organization and part of the structure of the house.
Because the intervention was major, the design of the house was going to change completely, and the works were going to require 2 years, an apartment was temporarily designed and renovated for the accommodation of the family during the works on the house.
In addition to the technical aspects, and the fact that high-performance technologies were implemented, the project gained a communication with the outside and a connection with the summer annex, which until this moment were divided and uncertainly defined spaces. The major advantage of this complete renovation is the fact that the garden has been given a dominant role, so it is a relaxation of the outdoor space where all the elements have room to breathe.
